The star-studded event features a golf tournament, softball game, comedy night, dinner gala, live music and auction. It benefits local non-profit organizations that aim to bring music and arts back to public school systems, as well as those that provide safe, enriching environments and services for families in need.
To date, more than $600,000 has been distributed to non-profits that represent the organization’s mission.
NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson will once again co-host the event along with Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and Rhode Island native Jeffrey Osborne.
They’ll be joined by a huge list of celebrities, including Denzel Washington, Smokey Robinson, and Cedric the Entertainer, along with sports stars such as Julius Erving, Doc Rivers, James Worthy, Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd, Michelle Kwan, Ty Law, as well as our own Michaela Johnson and Patrick Little.
The event will feature a celebrity softball game, brought back for a second time following its success last year. The nine-inning contest will be held at 12:05 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10 at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket. Tickets are $9 for general admission, $13 for a reserved box seat and $6 for children and seniors. They can be purchased on the PawSox website or by calling (401) 724-7300.
WPRI 12 is a proud media sponsor of the Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic.
